USDA  Fahrenheit Celsius USDA  Fahrenheit Celsius      Sunset Magazine Zone 3A is one of the mild high elevation and interior climate zones. This zone is sometimes referred to as the banana belt.

3A is defined as the areas east of the Sierra and Cascade ranges and it includes parts of eastern Washington and Oregon, a few isolated pockets in Idaho, Utah and northern New Mexico and Arizona.  Winter temperatures average between 15 ° and 25 ° F with extreme temperatures ranging between – 8 ° and –18 ° F.  The growing season varies from 150 to 186 days.
